Entangling thoughts creates personality and that feels becoming who we are.Against black background, white stings doodling and creating a shape of profile of a face.

Today, I would like to talk about emotions.

Emotions can color our experiences, enrich our lives, and make us feel alive. We are moved to tears, we are happy, we are overjoyed, or we can be sympathetic toward others who are in emotional distress.

However, while we feel confined in darkness with anger, jealousy, fear, or anxiety for a long time, it can be scary and painful.

We are all addicted to emotions to different degrees

Scientists state that emotions are the body’s chemical reactions to thoughts. Since we are the results of compilations of our thought patterns, we are conditioned to feel certain types of emotions according to which thoughts or narratives we are having, and that’s when we get trapped in a loop of an emotional merry-go-round or roller coaster. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are all addicted to emotions to different degrees.

Since we only had the emotional part of our brain while we were babies and toddlers, while we are emotional, we are usually trapped in our narratives playing our familiar characters which were defined while we were little children.  And, they were reinforced and registered in the emotional part of our brain, which I call Child Mind.

Suppressed emotions are consuming our precious energy

Emotions are always there. If we dare to force ourselves not to feel or repress them, there would be a consequence when they backfire and might show up as somatic or psychological discomfort or sometimes even depression. Wouldn't it be better if we could replace so-called negative emotions?

Since emotions are associated with thought patterns, we can deduce this mechanism to rephrase/reconstruct/reframe our familiar thought patterns/narratives.

“I am too sensitive”, “I don’t feel worthy”, “I have an abandonment issue”, “I am scared to commit”, “I cannot trust anyone”, “I am too nice so that others often take advantage of me”, “I have trauma”, etc. These statements are not your personality but your habitual ways of thinking. Whenever you believe these types of thoughts and self-definitions as to who you are, then your emotions get triggered.

When something happens to you, you automatically pick your habitual thought patterns to define the situation that you are in, and then you have an unconscious, automatic chemical reaction to feeling certain emotions.

The flow of these thoughts plus emotional experiences can vary from person to person. This is because they are based on thought patterns developed in childhood.

We can compassionately ask ourselves, “What happened to me?” instead of blaming ourselves, “What’s wrong with me?”

If you often experience that your emotions get triggered by outside sources, and it takes a long time to calm yourself down, it would be helpful to learn about your thought patterns and emotional narratives preventing you from being productive, feeling fulfilled, and enjoying who you are. Once you can self-acknowledge your familiar narratives, which drive you to a certain emotional experience, you can consciously rewrite a new narrative that moves you toward your desired future.

My private sessions can be helpful for those who are willing to dive deep into inner exploration. During a session, I guide my client to examine her unconscious block, which has prevented her from showing up fully in the world and moving forward with her life by asking a series of questions. These questions are strategically structured to expand my client’s perspective so that she can absorb new information to gain a new understanding regarding what happened to her when she was a little child. Therefore, how her Child Mind remembers why and how a particular event happened can be reframed or interpreted differently.

As a result, my clients will gain a brand new perspective, experience inner healing, and understand their inner potential to become autonomous thinkers and proactive doers to experience true freedom as they navigate their lives to build their desired future for themselves.
